8я неделя Photobook Week Aarhus. Фестиваль 2021 года откроется 14 октября и завершится Open Book Market 17 октября.

Galleri Image invites you to join the 8th edition of Photobook Week Aarhus - a festival dedicated to the study of the photobook as an artistic and creative medium.
The festival 2021 opens 14 October and ends with our annual Open Book Market on 17 October.

This year's Photobook Week Aarhus will explore the theme of Movement and Transition. The festival offers a wide range of exciting exhibitions, talks, book markets, and presentations on locations throughout the city centre of Aarhus and an opening at HEART - Museum of Contemporary Art in Herning.

The events will take place in Galleri Image, Aarhus School of Architecture, ARoS, Godsbanen and HEART.

Through the theme Movement and Transition the exhibition program and talks will embrace contemporary themes such as migration, globalization and post-colonial thinking. Artistic movements such as Dada and Fluxus, and an analysis of photographers’ libraries, to highlight their role as sources of inspiration will also be subjects of matter in the festival. Genres such as historic travel guides and company books will be just as important as art publications, and we will highlight the international book production eg. in the Caribbean and Greenland.

During PWA 2021, Galleri Image will present three separate exhibitions; Breathing Images by Korean visual artist Kyungwoo Chun, Eye to Eye curated by Greenlandic photograph Inuuteq Storch and The Moving Page curated by Russian/Dutch curator and artist Daria Tuminas. The three artists will all make a presentation on their exhibition and participate in a talk.

In the new buildings of Aarhus School of Architecture, the exhibitions Portugal Year Zero, curated by José Luis Neves and A Day Full of Miracles, curated by Adam Mazur, will be at show. Futhermore, there will be discussions with titles like Danish Welfare Architecture in Photography and Photobooks and Photographs and Photobooks, where experts in architecture will participate. The architecture school will facilitate the exhibition REMIX: Printed matter from the Caribbean, curated by photographer and curator Nadia Huggins from the Grenadines. The exhibition seeks to invite the viewer to reimagine and re-contextualize the image of the Caribbean, through the diverse printed matter produced by various contemporary artists from the region.

At ARoS Art Museum, we will among other present the exhibition The Company Photobook, curated by Thomas Wiegand and Bart Sorgedrager. It will be possible to experience Moritz Neumüller and Jesper Rasmussen in conversation with Lars Movin, on Fluxus books and the Danish Fluxus scene.

Other important events include among other the Page Turner workshop with paula roush, and our annual Sunday Book Market, with photobooks from roughly 50 different publishers, bookmakers and booksellers. The Book Market will take place in Remisen at Godsbanen, where the participants will exhibit and sell their books. Futhermore, there will be short presentations by some of the praticipants of the workshop.
